Data points from this guide

  • Every justice with a substantial trial court record granted between 50.1% and 60.0% of the motions they decided, compared with a statewide average of 54.8%. None stands out as unusually lopsided.
  • Among those same justices, average case length ranges from 156 to 2,062 days. Most of that gap reflects assignments: collections and complex civil calendars run long, and restraining order calendars run short.
  • All seven contested races are open seats with lawyer candidates. 12 of the 14 candidates practice mainly criminal law, where public court data is thinnest. Trellis found civil cases they handled as counsel for 4 of them, and other court records for 2 more.
